Venus and I have been debating Open Markets Vs Controlled Opening of door to multinationals in India in the retail sector. Venus is for Open Markets and I like the controlled approach, needless to say - I'm not supporting the current red tape. I think the gates should be open slowly and steadily, this gives us the ability to learn and adapt to changing market forces. Moreover, we need to ensure that local businesses have time to prepare and react to competition from much more professional and efficient multinationals like WalMart or Tesco.
